Faber Vineyard
Chardonnay
An interesting 2019 vintage in Frankland defined by a late start and a very dry growing season. Dry days meant cool nights, a fantastic prospect for chardonnay fruit, developing great fruit intensity whilst natural acidity remained high. The wine was aged for 10 months in 10-year-old oak barrels. Our winemaking aim is to preserve fruit character and freshness, hence only occasional battonage and no MLF.
Bright peach notes, with hints of buttered toast. Creamy rich stonefruit flavour, lovely cashew nut character through the midpalate, tight acidity with excellent body and a soft finish. This is terrific drinking.
Verdelho
A classic example of Swan Valley Verdelho - picked ripe for an aromatic, fruit-driven, fullbodied, dry wine.
The wine has intense just-ripe nectarine, melon skin and lemongrass aromas typical of varietal Swan Verdelho. It’s vibrant, sweet-fruited and full-flavoured on the palate. Fine and focused acidity with a lovely chalky texture and the wine finishes long and soft. A flavoursome, mouth-filling dry white wine with an intense perfume and great balance.
El Sol Semillon
Beautiful sun-ripened grapes from Rascals Corner Vineyard in the Ferguson Valley were picked and delivered to Faber on the 13th of March - nearly 4 weeks after the normal Semillon harvest. These super ripe, intensely flavoured grapes were perfect for crafting this distinctive sweet white wine.
Mid straw colour with intense lemon butter and melon aromas. Lovely vibrant palate of lemon zest and mandarin fruit flavours, evident fruity sweetness with crisp, fresh acidity. Excellent length with a bright dry finish.
Richie Shiraz
A beautiful expression of Shiraz grown in the warm Swan Valley climate on the laterite ironstone gravel soil found along the base of the Darling Scarp. Crafted from dry grown fruit from our vineyard & the Millard Vineyard, both located in Baskerville, the Swan Valley.
Deep burgundy in colour. Lovely lifted stewed plum and blue fruits with rich mocha, chocolate and nutmeg oak notes. Plush, mouth-filling palate with red berries and chocolate character. Excellent length with tight, mouth-coating tannins and a long flavourful finish. Drinking well as a young wine but will undoubtedly develop and soften for many years to come.
Grenache
Dry grown Grenache from Sita’s vineyard on Haddrill Road in the Swan Valley. A modern Swan Valley style, light-medium bodied Grenache full of flavour and intensity.
Aromatic red berries, rose-hip characters with lovely potpourri notes. A rich, mouthcoating, palate. Plenty of red fruit flavours with earthy undertones. Gentle powdery tannins with a soft dry finish. Light of body but full of flavour. The wine has a genuine moreish character about it and is fantastic drinking all year round.
